Gender Affirming Therapy
As a gender-affirming therapist, I offer a supportive space for exploring your journey, addressing challenges related to gender identity and expression, and fostering self-acceptance within the community.
What is your approach to gender-affirming therapy?
Safe + Open Environment
I provide a safe and validating space where clients can freely explore their feelings related to their gender identity and expression without fear of judgment or discrimination.
Gender Exploration + Expression
I help clients explore the complexities of gender identity development and self-discovery. This can include helping you identify what it looks for you to express gender identity authentically, including gender presentation, clothing, name, and pronouns.
Navigating Coming Out
I offer support and strategies for individuals navigating the coming out process as transgender, nonbinary, or gender nonconforming. This may involve assessing risks, identifying support systems, and developing a plan for disclosure that feels safe and empowering.
Gender Transitioning + Medical Care
I assist individuals in accessing gender-affirming medical and mental health care, including hormone therapy, surgeries, and other transition-related services. This includes letter of support for gender-affirming interventions according to WPATH standards.
Addressing Mental Health Challenges
I help clients address any mental health concerns that may arise in the context of exploring gender identity, such as depression, anxiety, or trauma.
Relationship Dynamics
I help clients address family dynamics, relationship concerns, and interpersonal challenges related to gender identity. This can include helping you improve communication with loved ones, navigate conflicts, and establish boundaries.
Advocacy, Empowerment + Resilience
I help empower clients to advocate for their rights, access affirming resources, and navigate systems of oppression/discrimination. I also help clients build resilience, develop coping skills to navigate stigma, discrimination, and minority stress associated with being gender non-conforming.
